About Us: Meet Marielle Hazen
Marielle F. Hazen, the principal of Hazen Elder Law, has earned the distinction of being one of only 31 Pennsylvania attorneys certified as an Elder Law Attorney by the National Elder Law Foundation, as authorized by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. She is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and is a Past Chair of the Elder Law Section of the Pennsylvania Bar Association. She is Co-Chair of the PBA Elder Law Section Newsletter and is actively involved in the legislative advocacy activities of the Section. Ms. Hazen is a member of the Special Needs Alliance, a national network of attorneys dedicated to Disability and Public Benefits Law. She is also a member of the American, Pennsylvania, Dauphin County and Cumberland County Bar Associations.
Ms. Hazen serves on the Elder Abuse Task Force for Dauphin County and the Dauphin County Area Agency on Aging Advisory Council. She is in frequent demand as a speaker for community and professional groups on elder law, estate planning, and disability and special needs planning topics. At the request of the Pennsylvania Department of Aging, Ms. Hazen has taught the Apprise Coordinators regarding long term care legal issues and has served on a committee to develop programs to educate seniors about fraud, financial scams and legal issues. She frequently serves on the faculty for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, providing continuing legal education for attorneys. She has also been a guest lecturer for the Temple University graduate program in Social Work, the Penn State Dickinson School of Law, Widener University School of Law and the Harrisburg Area Community College. She received her B.A. in economics from Indiana University of Pennsylvania where she graduated magna cum laude, and her Juris Doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.
Ms. Hazen has been selected by her peers for the past 2 years as a "Rising Star Super Lawyer" in the field of Elder Law as featured in Philadelphia Magazine. She has also received the prestigious "AV" rating from Martindale Hubbell.
